Mini McQueen at Harwell
We’re excited to be introducing Mini McQueen to Harwell — a fun, fast-paced adaptation of the full‑bore McQueen competition using .22 rimfire rifles fired at 50 m from a bench. It replicates the classic McQueen target exposure challenge but on a smaller scale.
While we build the electronic targets at our range, here’s an overview of the discipline:
What Is Mini McQueen?
Mini McQueen is a “sniper‑style” event using a scaled-down McQueen Castle setup, designed originally as a .22-calibre adaptation of the full-bore version. The shooter engages timed exposures through castle windows, firing one shot per exposure — it’s both thrilling and precision-driven.
Who Can Shoot?
– Open to .22 rimfire rifles, scoped, with a minimum 4× magnification
– Shooters fire from a bench, using rests or bipods
– Requires either a .22 LR rifle
Course of Fire
– Distance: 50 metres
– Sighting shots: Typically 2
– 10 timed exposures: Each exposure lasts around 3 seconds, with random intervals of 10–20 seconds between them
– Target setup: Nine miniature “Hun’s Head” target paddles in the castle for visual engagement
Why Mini McQueen?
– It’s a lively, engaging way to sharpen reaction timing and precision under pressure.
-Perfect for club events, beginner shooters, or full‑bore veterans wanting a taste of McQueen-style excitement.
– Ideal while the electronic target system is under development at Harwell — offering a preview of what’s to come.
